Description

Die hohe zylindrische Holzdose (wohl aus Buchsbaum) hat einen etwas überkragenden, flachen Stülpdeckel, die Holzoberfläche ist mit einem polierten Schellack(?)-Überzug geschützt. Auf der Stirnseite steht in schwarzer Aufschrift in querovalem weißem Feld "Rad: Serpentar" (Radix Serpentariae virginiae, Virginische Schlangenwurzel).

Ovale Schriftfelder waren in der Zeit des Biedermeier auf fast allen Apothekengefäßen gebräuchlich, hochwertige Holzdosen waren üblicherweise aus Buchsbaum und hatten einen Schellacküberzug.
