Description

Die fossile Muschel in Schalenerhaltung aus dem oligozänen Meeressand des Mainzer Beckens gibt Hinweise darauf, dass das Rheintal einst eine Meeresstraße war. Diese verband im Oligozän vor etwa 30 Millionen Jahren das Mittelmeer mit der heutigen Nordsee.
