Kohl wurde für die 1986 aufgestellte Betonbüste zu Ehren Ernst Thälmanns ausgezeichnet. Sie wurde 2012 vom Johannisplatz (vormals Ernst-Thälmann-Platz) entfernt und im Stadtmuseum Werdeau eingelagert.
