Entlang der Via Appia bei Rom stehen Pinien und Zypressen sowie links eine Turmruine. Rückseitig beschriftet von anderer Hand. Fest passepartouriert. 1943 wurde Kohl nach Italien abkommandiert und vor Rom stationiert. In den fast zwei Jahren seines dortigen Aufenthaltes entstanden u.a. künstlerisch reife Ansichten römischer Ruinen sowie der Via Appia.
